Mary Luella Place

Mary Luella Place age 83, of Lancaster, died on Thursday, October 22, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, IA. She was born on August 15, 1926, in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Leo and Margaret (Flesch) Duve. Mary Luella attended school at St. Clement Catholic School in Lancaster. On January 24, 1946, she was united in marriage to Clarence L. Place at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. After their marriage, the couple resided in Lancaster. Mary Luella enjoyed needle point, creweling, fishing, cooking and baking. There was always a fresh baked dessert for the children to come home to. She was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church, St. Clement CCW, the VFW Auxiliary and a former member of the DAVA.

Survivors include her six children: William J. (Kathy) Place, Rohnert Park, CA; Charles L. (Regina) Place, Fulda, Germany; Edward C. (Sheila) Place, Lancaster; Peggy (William) Muller, Copperas Cove, TX; Mary Lou Place and Rita Place, both of Lancaster; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her sisters and brothers: Evelyn (Phillip) Peterson, Lindsberg, KS; Jane Duve, Grand Blanc, MI; Ivan (Jean Ann) Duve, Shelby, MT; Eugene “Red” (Marilyn) Duve, Independence, MO; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Mary Luella was preceded in death by an infant daughter, her husband, Clarence, a sister, Irene Erickson, and a brother, Clement Duve.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father William Seipp officiating. Burial will be in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Friends may call on Tuesday, October 27, 2009, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. where a 2:00 p.m. rosary will be held at Schwartz Funeral Home. Delano A. Ploessl

Delano A. Ploessl age 83, of Cassville, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. He was born February 21, 1934 in Glen Haven Township, the son of John and Gertrude (Hochhausen) Ploessl. Del attended Peoples School, St. Charles School, and graduated from Cassville High School in 1953. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years after high school. Del was united in marriage to Shirley Seitz on August 6, 1960 at St. Clement Catholic Church, Lancaster. They owned and operated the Far Nuf Tavern, and he worked at John Deere in Dubuque. He worked construction for a time and helped build several local power plants. Del enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was a handyman who could fix anything. He loved spending time with his family – especially his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Del was a kind and loving uncle with a great humor who taught a lot of his skills to his nieces and nephews. They will miss him greatly because he was like a second dad to them.

He is survived by two sisters, Betty Breuer, Lancaster, and Sharon (Jim) Reynolds, Cassville; many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Gabel.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, in 2013; and four brothers and sisters-in-laws: Donald (Helen), Melvin, Clifford (Helen), and Jim; brother-in-law, Francis Breuer; and sister-in-law, Sharon Moore.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville, with Fr. John Meinholz officiating. Burial with military honors will be in St. Charles Cemetery, Cassville. Family and friends may call on Thursday, September 21, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. Dennis A. Ploessl

Dennis A. Ploessl age 65, of Prairie du Chien, passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012, at the Lancaster Care Center. He was born on January 14, 1947 in Lancaster, the son of Ralph and Margaret (McCartney) Ploessl. He grew up on the family farm near North Andover and graduated from Bloomington High School in 1965. Dennis worked for Burlington Northern Railroad until 1986. He then went to work on his brother, Roger’s farm. After that, he worked at Food Pride until its closing. Dennis had a great love for the Green Bay Packers and the Wisconsin Badgers. He also enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and spending time with his friends and family.

Dennis is survived by his children: Todd (Geraldine) Carteron, Tracy (Bob) Kubitz, Travis (Desiree) Ploessl, Todd (Tricia) Ploessl, and Kerri (Travis) Shefelbine; 12 grandchildren; his parents, Ralph and Margaret Ploessl; his brothers: Wayne (Colleen) and Roger (Barb) Ploessl; a sister: Cindy (Larry) Osterhaus; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Graeow; his brother, Bruce Ploessl; his nephew, Dustin Osterhaus; and a grandson, Vincent Ploessl.

Private family funeral services will be held at a later date. Friends may call on Saturday, January 5, 2013 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Martin Funeral Home in Cassville. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Dennis A. Ploessl memorial fund has been established.

Dolores Ann Ploessl

Dolores Ann Ploessl age 84, formerly of Bloomington, WI, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 17, 2014, at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien surrounded by her loving family. Dolores was born to Leo and Anastasia (Bouzek) White on September 5, 1929, in Prairie du Chien. She married Gerald “Jerry” L. Ploessl on February 14, 1949. After raising ten children, she returned to the nursing profession as a CNA. She then became a teacher’s aide in the River Ridge School District. Dolores was also a member of the West Grant Rescue Squad for many years. She was honored to be one of the first women on the squad. She was a longstanding member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters Society.

Dolores’s deep love for her family meant they always came first. She dedicated herself to her husband, Jerry, of 58 years, which included caring for him during a long illness. Dolores is survived by her children: Carol (Tom) Mumm, Peggy (Doug) Vanderbilt, Marcia (Scott) Stilwell, Jane (Ernie) Dallam, Sheri Ott, Jerry Ploessl, Jeff Ploessl, Gene (Kate) Ploessl, Kevin (Michelle) Ploessl, daughter-in-law, Charlene Ploessl, and her sisters: Joyce Davidson and Teresa (Don) Heal, 25 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dolores was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gerald “Jerry”, her son Bill, her son-in-law, Jim Kolman, her parents, and siblings: Joan Lucille White (in infancy) , Robert White, and Joan (Charlie) Dean.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bloomington. Family and friends may call on Monday, July 21, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington where a 3:45 p.m. rosary will be held. Friends may also call on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to either the West Grant Rescue Squad or St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Dolores’s family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses who cared for her in her final years. They would also like to thank the caring and wonderful staffs of both Prairie Maison and Bluff Haven in Prairie du Chien. With their support, Dolores was able to handle her health challenges of the past year with grace and dignity.

Helen P. Ploessl

Helen P. Ploessl age 75, of Cassville, died on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. She was born June 26, 1932, in Cassville, WI, the daughter of Bernard and Lenice (Longmeier) Vondrum. She was united in marriage to Clifford A. Ploessl on September 15, 1949 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville. Helen’s legacy is her family and they will miss her dearly. She tirelessly devoted her life to assure those she held in her heart had all the love and care they needed. As Helen’s family grew, she welcomed her daughters-in-law as if they were her own. She welcomed each new grandchild as a precious gift. Helen was greatly respected as a kind and gentle woman. She was a lifelong member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville.

She is survived by her ten children: David (Vicki), Cassville; Kenneth (Mary), Cassville; Robert, Oregon; Thomas (Anne) Waunakee; Douglas (Cindy) Cassville; Ronald, Madison; Gregory (Rhonda) Waunakee; Diane Ploessl, Madison; Patrick (Christine), Cassville; and Daniel, Waunakee; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her sister, Mary Vondrum, Madison.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford, in 2000; her parents, Bernard and Lenice Vondrum; and her youngest sister, Dorothy Kunz.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville with Father John Norder officiating. Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery, Cassville. It was Helen’s wish there be no public visitation. The Martin Funeral Home in Cassville is assisting the family.

Helen M. Ploessl

Helen M. Ploessl age 86, of Cassville, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, IA. She was born December 31, 1927 the daughter of Joseph and Mary (McWilliams) Mumm. Helen graduated Cassville High School in 1946. She married Donald J. Ploessl on May 3, 1949 at St. Charles Catholic Church. Donald passed away in 1992. Together Donald and Helen farmed in rural Cassville and raised eight children, After Donald’s passing Helen moved to Cassville. She was a member of St Charles Catholic Church. Helen enjoyed playing cards, bingo, reading, and an occasional stop at the casino. She dearly loved time spent with her family, and a competitive game of Tripoli.

Surviving are four sons; Joe (Denise), Steven (Patricia), Larry (Janice), Bill (Lisa) Ploessl; three daughters; Mary Vogt, Deb (Jim Hunter) Hughes, Barb Ploessl, twenty one grandchildren, thirty one great grandchildren, with one on the way, two brothers; Bernie (Pat) and Dave Mumm a sister Leila Bausch, two sister in laws, Mercedes and Eleanor Mumm, and many members of the Ploessl family.

In addition to her husband, Helen was preceded by two children in infancy, a son Jeff Ploessl, two brothers, Bill and Walter Mumm, a sister, Isabelle (Bob) Bausch, a sister-in-law, Helen Mumm, and a brother-in-law, Walter Bausch

Patrick J. “Buck” Ploessl

Patrick J. “Buck” Ploessl age 51, of Cassville, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2013. He was born July 31, 1961, in Lancaster, the son of Clifford and Helen (Vondrum) Ploessl. In his early years, Pat lived in Colorado and worked in Construction. After moving back to Cassville, he drove long haul with his father. Pat was later employed with Artco Fleeting Services and The DTE power plant in Cassville. On April 11, 2003, Pat married Christine M. Wolf. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church. Pat was a natural athlete, enjoying many sports activities. He was a girl’s basketball assistant coach at St. Charles School, which his daughters participated in. Pat enjoyed spending time with family and friends on the Mississippi River.

He was a loving husband to his wife, Chris; a devoted father to his children: Stephanie, Brooke, Brianna, and Alex. Also surviving are his brothers: David (Vicki); Ken (Mary); Robert; Thomas (Anne); Doug (Cindy); Ron; Greg (Rhonda); Daniel and his sister, Diane Ploessl; his mother and father-in-law, Norma and Rodney Wolf; his special aunt, Mary Vondrum; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents.

Janet (Stuessy) Plourde

Janet (Stuessy) Plourde age 76, of Platteville passed away Thursday, September 3, 2009. She was born on December 3, 1932 in Lafayette County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Dr. Milton and Susan (Willis) Stuessy. Janet earned a degree from the Platteville Teachers College and in 1968 earned a Masters Degree in Education with an emphasis on English from the University of Wisconsin Platteville. She taught English at Evansville High School for 24 years until her retirement. It was always her goal to instill an understanding and appreciation of language and literature in her students. It was her hope it would make a difference in their lives.

Janet was a very kind, caring person and dedicated to helping others. She believed that her children and their families were the most significant part of her life. She was a voracious reader and crossword puzzler. She enjoyed travel, car rides on country back roads, music and singing. During her retirement Janet began playing the piano and composing songs for children. She was proud to have become a published songwriter. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband James; two brothers George Stuessy, Dr. Milton Stuessy; brothers-in-law Bill Plourde ,Richard Plourde; sister-in-law Patsy Plourde.

Janet is survived by her two children: Jim (Laurie) Plourde, Monroe, WI; Sue (Ed) Ambrose, Inver Grove Heights, MN; Four grandchildren; one great grandchild ; sisters-in-law, Carol Stuessy and Patricia Stuessy, both of Platteville and Joy Plourde of Bloomington, MN; brother-in-law Robert Plourde of Platteville; and many caring nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on September 26, 2009 at 11:30AM at the United Methodist Church, Platteville, WI. Visitation will be held from 10:00 until the time of service at the church. Bernadine I. "Birdie" Pluemer

Bernadine I. "Birdie" Pluemer age 105, of Potosi, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home. She was born on March 4, 1912, the daughter of Herman and Alice (Bell) Dressler. Birdie graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Prairie du Chien. On September 27, 1934, she was united in marriage to Leonard Pluemer. Together they farmed in Potosi Township where they raised their family. Birdie was a devoted member of the St. Andrew Catholic Church and its Altar Society. She reveled in family and in God; two of her most prized possessions were the giant family photos taken when all 100+ of them gathered periodically over the years and her rosaries. Among all things, Birdie was a daughter, sister, friend, student, wife, mother, community leader, and devout catholic.

Surviving are her sons: John (Carol); Herbert (Barbara); Steve (Sue) Pluemer; her daughters: Margaret Dastur; Alice (Richard) Kay; a daughter-in-law, Roberta Pluemer; 24 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Leonard, Birdie was preceded in death by two sons: Larry and Michael; her siblings and members of the Dressler family

Robert B. Pluemer

Robert B. Pluemer 72, of Tennyson, WI, passed away on Tuesday morning, Aug. 26, 2008, after a short illness, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson with the Father Geoffrey Fecht OSB, Father Richard Leffler, Father John Norder and Father Cy Weisensel concelebrating. Burial will be in St. Andrew Cemetery, Tennyson. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the church where there will be a Parish Scripture Service at 4:30 p.m. and a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m. provided by the Knights of Columbus and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Funeral Home in Potosi is serving the family.

Bob was born February 26, 1936 in Potosi Township, son of Arnold and Leona (Muller) Pluemer. He graduated from St. Andrew High School in 1953. He was a lifelong resident of Tennyson. Bob served in the National Guard in the early 1960's. He was employed by John Deere in Dubuque, Iowa for 34 years and was a retired member of the UAW Local 94. Bob was a devoted member of the Catholic Knights for over 50 years and a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus. As a member of the Knights of Columbus for 35 years, Bob was a 31d and 4th Degree Knight. He served as Grand Knight, District Deputy and Treasurer of the 3rd Degree. He was past Faithful Navigator, Faithful Comptroller and Faithful Commander of the 4th Degree Honor Guard. Through his involvement with the Knights of Columbus, Bob was very active with Father Mazzucheli Assembly.

A devoted member of Saint Andrew-Thomas Parish, Bob served as Eucharistic Minister and Usher and for a time as President of the Parish Council,. He was always involved in the many activities of the parish and local community. Surviving are his brother, Don (Eileen) Pluemer, Platteville and sisters, Dorothy Richard, Cuba City, Hazel Fecht, Tennyson and Margaret Wilke, Tennyson; sister-in-law, Jane Pluemer, Platteville; many nieces and nephews and their children whom Bob loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Lloyd and Parnell; his sisters-in-law, Mildred and Eleanor and his brothers-in-law, Vernon Richard, Raymond Downs, Francis Fecht and Delbert "Mort" Wilke. In lieu of flowers and plants, the family requests that memorials be given for the St. Andrew-Thomas Endowment Fund and the Potosi Rescue Squad.

Charles W. “Chuck” Pohle

Charles W. “Chuck” Pohle age 86, of Lancaster, WI, died Saturday, January 28, 2012, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. Chuck was born on April 21, 1925, in Bloomington, WI, the son and last surviving child of Harley and Lutie (Edwards) Pohle.

After his mother’s tragic death in 1927, Chuck went to live with his uncle and aunt, Ervie and Minnie (Taylor) Edwards. He made his home with them through school and then entered the service in 1945. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany and returned home in 1947. After the service, Chuck enjoyed a variety of employment working as a farm hand, driving milk trucks, semis, auto transport, and working for Marshall Stockyard and Lumber. His later years were spent working for Chuck and Janis Yoose at the feeder pig barn; where he was honored as older worker of the year in 1998. In 2004, he went to make his home at the Lancaster Care Center. Chuck enjoyed his years there renewing friendships, making new friends, feeding the birds and squirrels, and tending his beloved Brandi – the little Chihuahua who spent many days with him. Chuck will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Chuck is survived by his nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at Martin Funeral Home, 111 S. Tyler St., Lancaster, with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial will be in Beetown Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Charles W. Pohle memorial fund has been established.

Shirley A. Ploessl

Shirley A. Ploessl age 72, of Cassville, died on Monday, January 28, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, Iowa, due to health issues. She was born on August 1, 1940, in Lancaster, the daughter of Monroe and Edith (Smith) Sietz. Shirley was raised in Rockford, IL, but spent many summers with her grandparents who resided in Lancaster. On August 6, 1960, she was united in marriage to Delano Ploessl. Her joys in life were her pets, bird watching, creating jewelry, which she sold in local stores, and her love for gardening. Shirley had a beautiful flower garden much like the French Quarters found in the South. Her specialty dishes will be missed, especially her variety of Christmas fudge she shared with her many family and friends. Shirley was employed for many years at Rapid Die. Her next venture took her to Dubuque, IA, where she managed her own antique business. Shirley loved searching for priceless collectables. All who knew her would agree that she was a very colorful and intelligent person. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her loving husband of fifty-two years, Delano Ploessl, Cassville; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Moore.

To honor Shirley’s requests, there will be no visitation and no services. Martin Funeral Home in Cassville is assisting the family.

Maxine L.Popp

Maxine L.Popp age 85, of Platteville, died on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at her home. She was born on June 26, 1924 in rural Platteville, the daughter of Otto and Florence (Wright) Duncan. Maxine graduated from Platteville High School and attended the University of Wisconsin — Platteville for two years. She was united in marriage to William J. Popp on November 30, 1945 at Peace Lutheran Church in Belmont. He preceded her in death on February 22, 2008. Together they farmed in rural Belmont for seven years before moving to Platteville and co-owned and operated City Market for two years. Maxine worked at Dick's Supermarket for over 30 years, including being a sales rep for Hallmark/Ambassador.

Maxine loved to crochet; her beautiful creations are proudly displayed in the homes of family members. She also enjoyed walking, dancing and listening to music, especially by her son, Larry and grandson, Bryan. She dearly loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of Peace.

Maxine is survived by her son, Larry "Fizz" (Ellen) Popp, Platteville; two grandchildren, Stephanie (Troy) Kerkenbush, Platteville and Bryan (Shannon) Popp, Lancaster; six great-grandchildren: Presley, Paige and Kaia Kerkenbush and Addyson, Lainey and Lexy Popp; her sister, Joyce Bridges, Tucson, AZ and her sister-in-law, Helen Buss, Belmont.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant daughter, Linda Jean. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 15, 2010 at Lutheran Church of Peace in Platteville with the Reverend Jeff Pederson officiating. Burial will be held in Belmont Cemetery, Belmont. Family and friends are welcome from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 14 at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home in Platteville and from 9:30 a.m. until time of services Monday at the church. William “Bill” J. Popp

William “Bill” J. Popp age 90, of Platteville, died on Friday, February 22, 2008 at Southwest Health Center Nursing Home in Cuba City. Bill was born on September 20, 1917 in rural Belmont, Lafayette County, the son of William C. and Clara (Gehrke) Popp. He married Maxine Duncan on November 30, 1945 at Peace Lutheran Church in Belmont. Together they farmed in rural Belmont for seven years before moving to Platteville and co-owned and operated City Market for two years. Bill then drove milk truck for Dean Milk Company. He also worked for Dick’s, Scott’s Service Station, and built houses and did carpentry work with Bob Bockhop before retiring from Pioneer Ford.

Bill was an avid fisherman, liked crafts and carpentry work and latch hooking. He also loved to go dancing with Maxine. He volunteered for the Boy Scouts as a Troop Leader at Lutheran Church of Peace, coached his son in summer baseball and was a member of the Elks Lodge. Bill is survived by his wife of 62 years, Maxine Popp, Platteville; his son, Larry “Fizz” (Ellen) Popp, Platteville; two grandchildren, Stephanie (Troy) Kerkenbush, Platteville and Bryan (Shannon) Popp, Mount Horeb; three great-granddaughters, Presley and Paige Kerkenbush and Addyson Popp; his sister, Helen Buss, Belmont and his sister-in-law, Joyce Bridges, Tucson, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Linda Jean and a sister, Esther Popp. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 25, 2008 at Lutheran Church of Peace in Platteville with the Reverend Jeff Pederson officiating. Burial will be held in Belmont Cemetery, Belmont. Family and friends are welcome from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 24 at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home in Platteville and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services Monday at the church.

In lieu of flowers and plants a William J. Popp Memorial Fund has been established. Bill’s family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Southwest Health Center Nursing Home in Cuba City for their dedication and compassion in caring for Bill these past four plus years.

David Lyle Potter

David Lyle Potter age 58, of Beetown, died on Wednesday, October 06, 2010, at Grant Regional Health Center, Lancaster, after a hard fought battle with colon cancer. He was born on August 16, 1952, in Lancaster, the son of Lyle and Helen (Purkapile) Potter. He owned and operated Potter Logging and the Valley Tap in Beetown. Dave was a logger at heart and also enjoyed wood working, antique restoration and reading.

Survivors include his daughter, Peggie (Ben) Kuenne, Marshfield; his mother, Helen Potter, Beetown; brother, Mike (Karen) Potter, Potosi; his sisters: Bev Teasley, Arkansas; Betty (Jerry Cromwell) Nelson, Cassville; Trudi Cromwell, Lancaster; one granddaughter, Toni Kuenne; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; his dog and best friend, Sara.

Dave was preceded in death by his son, Clint; his father, Lyle Potter; his sister, Brenda Moore and brother-in-law, Mark Moore.

In keeping with Dave’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Friends may call on Friday, October 8, 2010, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Lancaster. Burial will be in Beetown Cemetery, Beetown Township.

Jerry George Potter

Jerry George Potter age 72, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center with his loving family by his side. He was born in Lancaster, Wisconsin on June 9, 1942, the son of the late Cletus and Vivian Potter (Irish). Jerry married Beth Sedbrook on May 6, 1967 and owned and operated his own carpet company in Madison, Wisconsin for many years. Jerry and Beth lived in Madison for over 40 years, where they raised their two daughters, Jenny and Tammy.

Jerry is survived by his wife Beth of 47 years; his daughters, Jenny Noll (Joshua) of Oshkosh, Wisconsin and their children Logan and Lexi, Tammy Larson (Garth) of Oshkosh, Wisconsin and their children Jackson and Madie, sisters Jean Dobson (Curt), Carrie Bell (Rob), and several nephews, nieces and other loving relatives. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Cletus and Vivian Potter.

In 2009, Jerry and Beth left Madison after living there for over 40 years to be closer to their grandchildren. Over the last five years living in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Jerry developed an amazing bond with all of his grandchildren as being a grandpa was one of his greatest joys in life. He was the epitome of what any grandpa should be.

One of Jerry's greatest passions was his work with the Masonic Lodge, both in Potosi, Wisconsin and surrounding areas, as well as the Fox Valley. He was devoted to helping others and he made an impact through this work on thousands of lives. Jerry loved recreational fishing, playing solitaire on his computer and watching his favorite team, the Green Bay Packers. Jerry will be remembered as a kind and caring man, with a passion for helping those in greatest need. Most importantly, Jerry is remembered for his unique sense of humor as he could liven up a crown in any situation. He will be incredibly missed by his family and friends. A memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Friday, November 21, 2014 at Martin Funeral Home, 111 South Tyler Street in Lancaster, Wisconsin. A Masonic service will follow and burial will take place at Boice Creek Cemetery in Potosi, Wisconsin.

Charles L. Pritchett

Charles L. Pritchett age 78, of Bloomington, died peacefully on Monday, May 3, 2010, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster surrounded by his family. He was born on July 8, 1931, in Bloomington, the son of Leonard and Bertha (Jakeman) Pritchett. He entered the United States Coast Guard and served his country during the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge. Upon his discharge, he was employed with the Printing Press in Rice Lake and helped his parents at the Bloomington Record. On July 27, 1957, Charles was united in marriage to Helene Marben in Minnesota. Through the years, Charles wore many hats while farming. He served the county and village as a police officer as well as a U.S. Mail Transporter and milk hauler. Charles was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington and the Abraham Hickok Wetmore American Legion Post No. 148 of Bloomington. He was an avid coin and antique car collector and enjoyed gardening, trap shooting, tinkering and being outdoors.

Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Helene Pritchett, Bloomington; their children: Timothy Pritchett, Silver Springs, MD; Tamara (Bob) Mecum, Minnetonka, MN; Trenton Pritchett, Bloomington; Thomas (Angie) Pritchett, Monroe; Ted (Dana) Pritchett, Black Earth; Leonard (Jenny) Pritchett, Bloomington; six grandchildren: Jeff and Steve Pritchett, Ashley and Jon Mecum, Brynley and Pierce Pritchett; four step-grandchildren: Taylor, Paige, and Autumn Morfey and Blake Stagman; one great-grandchild, Jordin Pritchett.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2010, at 5:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington with Father Bart Timmerman officiating. Family and friends may call on Thursday, May 6, 2010, from 3:00 p.m. until time of services at the church. A rosary will be held at 2:45 p.m. at the church. Burial with military honors will be held on Friday, May 7, 2010, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bloomington at 10:30 a.m. with Father Bart Timmerman officiating. Chester Allen Pritchett

Chester Allen Pritchett age 82, of Beetown, passed away surrounded by his family, Thursday, July 31, 2014, at UPH Finley Hospital, Dubuque, IA following a brief illness. Chester was born August 6, 1931, the only son of Myron Pritchett and Lulu (Potter) Pritchett in Beetown. He married Patricia Ransom on March 29, 1951, and they had four children. He attended Beetown grade school and Lancaster high school. He was a third generation carpenter and operated his own small engine business for more than fifty years. Chester liked to watch the Packers and Cardinals, he bowled on a league for many years and enjoyed playing cards with friends.

Chester is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patricia; daughters, Mary Cattle of Mauston, Barbara Fishnick of Lancaster, Bobbie Woolf of Grafton; and brother-in-law, Gary Ransom of Cassville. Mary's family includes her husband Cary, five daughters, Shannon and Chris Kreutz, children Kyle and Kirstin Retzlaff, Nick and Noah Kreutz, all of Kenosha; Sandy Cattle of Mauston, children Chelsey and Benjamen Rhue of Wessington, SD; Shari Cattle and friend Jeff Hooker of Mauston; Sheila and Brian Sliffy of Woodstock, IL; Sara Cattle and son Vincent Wiler of Marshfield. Barb's family includes her husband Vince, three daughters, Becky and Craig Lockman, children Brayden and Aubrey of Waterford; Karen Fishnick and friend Chase Dowell of Lancaster; Kelly Fishnick and friend Doug Slicker of New Berlin.

Bobbie's family includes her husband Sam and four children, Jacob, Jennifer, Scott and Nathan of Grafton. In addition to his parents and Patricia's parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Tommy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 4, 2014, at 11:30 am at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville, with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial, immediately following, will be in St. Charles Cemetery, Cassville. Friends may call at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cassville is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to St. Charles Religious Education Programs.

Helene Louise Pritchett

Helene Louise Pritchett age 81, of Bloomington, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 10, 2017. She was born on September 12, 1935, in New Ulm, MN, the daughter of Darrell H. and Cecelia A. (Schwengle) Marben. Helene graduated in 1953 as Valedictorian of her class from Lamberton High School. She furthered her education at Clark University in Dubuque and Stout College in Menominee where she earned a teaching certificate and a degree in Home Economics. Helene also obtained a degree in Library Science from the University of Wisconsin at Platteville. On July 27, 1957, she was united in marriage to Charles L. Pritchett in Minnesota. After their marriage, the couple made their home in Bloomington where they spent their 53 years of marriage. Helene taught at West Grant and Bloomington high schools, retiring in 1991. She was a devoted member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters, Christian Mothers, and the Salmagundi Club. Helene was an avid Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers fan. She enjoyed reading, flowers, and baking. Helene dearly loved spending time with her family and had a wonderful sense of humor.

Helene is survived by her six children: Timothy Pritchett, Silver Springs, MD; Tamara (Bob) Mecum, Minnetonka, MN; Trent Pritchett, Bloomington; Thomas (Angie) Pritchett, Galena, IL; Ted (Dana) Pritchett, Black Earth; Leonard (Jenny) Pritchett, Bloomington; eleven grandchildren: Jeff (Stephanie) Pritchett, Steve (Hailey) Pritchett, Taylor, Paige, and Autumn Morfey, Ashley (Sonny) Sherman, Jon Mecum, Blake Stagman, Brynley, Pierce and Charli Rae Pritchett; four great-grandchildren: Jordin Pritchett, Kristi Meier, Jackson Pritchett, and Willow Morfey; two sisters with whom Helene had a special relationship: Janet Catherine (Cletus) Foy, Katie, TX; Mary Ann (Jon) Gislason, Marble Falls, TX; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Helene was preceded in death by her husband, Charles on May 3, 2010; her brothers: Richard Walter and Paul John Marben.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bloomington. Family and friends may call on Thursday, March 16, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where a 4:45 p.m. rosary will be prayed. Elizabeth Puckett

Elizabeth Puckett 86, of Creston, formerly of the Bagley, Wisconsin area, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the Creston Nursing and Rehab Center in Creston, IA. Elizabeth Mae (Wilcox) Puckett, daughter of Lawrence Leroy Wilcox and Florence Bernice (Knight) Wilcox, was born Feb. 15, 1927 in Wyalusing, Wis. She was educated in Bagley area schools.

On August 29, 1946, Elizabeth married Willard H. Ritchey in Waukon, Iowa. They first settled in Trempealeau, Wis., later moving to Bagley. Elizabeth was a homemaker. To this union, came four children: Walter, Betty, Patsy and Robert. They later divorced in 1955. On June 14, 1958, Elizabeth married Cornelius Wallace “Connie” Puckett in Fennimore, Wis. at her home. Connie brought his three sons to this union; Casey, Kelly and Clayton. They lived in Woodman, WI and she continued raising their family as a homemaker. Together, Elizabeth and Connie had four additional children: Cassius, Jackie, Cameron and Earl.

Elizabeth is survived by three daughters, Betty (husband Kevin) Herzberg of Creston, Patsy (Larry) Vegtar of Menasha, WI and Jackie Church of Douglasville, GA; six sons, Robert (Judy) Ritchey of Michigan City, IN, Casey (Kathy) Puckett of Springtown, TX, Kelly (wife Kim) Puckett of Buckeye, AZ, Clayton (Anne) Puckett of Beaver Dam, WI, Cassius Puckett of Buckeye, AZ and Earl Puckett of Madison, WI; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; two sisters, Verdabelle Bohringer of Bagley, WI, and Mary Jane (Kenny) Lawinger of Sauk Centre, MN.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Connie, four children at birth, two sons, Walter in a lake accident and Cameron, in a car accident, a brother, Earl Wilcox and three sisters, Marjorie Kipper, Leora Clark and Emma Bradley. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at the Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster, WI, with Rev. Robert Ritchey officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Seneca, WI. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22, at Schwartz Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Jim M. “PaPa Fish” Puhl

Jim M. “PaPa Fish” Puhl age 70, of Cassville, formerly of Roscoe, IL, was called home on Thursday, May 7, 2009, from a bought with leukemia, at HospiceCare Inc. in Fitchburg. He was born on December 26, 1938, the son of “Dad” Riley and Vera (Coppernoll) Tinder and “Father” Earl Puhl, in Beloit. Jim graduated from Beloit High School and joined the United States Army in 1956, serving in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was united in marriage to June G. Nelson on July 30, 1960, and settled in Roscoe, IL. They owned and operated a full service automobile repair facility. Jim was very active in the community as a Winnebago County sheriff officer, a volunteer on the Harlem Roscoe Fire Department, Police Commission, and a village trustee. After selling their business, Jim explored several other adventures. He retired from American Family Insurance as a field adjuster, at the age of fifty-seven. Jim was fortunate to have many years after retirement to do the things he loved to do. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and being with family and friends. He will be forever loved and missed by all.

Survivors include his beloved wife, June G. (Nelson) Puhl, Cassville; his sons: Timothy J. (Sandra) Puhl, Roscoe, IL; Rusty M. (Mary) Puhl, Machesney Park, IL; his grandchildren: Breanne Puhl and Nickolas McCluskey, both of Machesney Park, IL; soon to be born great-grandson; his sister, Cindy (Tinder) Feld, Alton, MO; his brothers: Ross (Phyllis) Tinder, Afton, WI; Michael Puhl, Wausau, WI; his mother-in-law, Mabel (Gilbertson) Nelson, Lancaster, WI; sister-in-law, Ester (Nelson) Dixon, Durand, IL; several nieces and nephews, friends, neighbors, and fellow “snow birds” of Lady Lake, FL.

Jim was preceded in death by his mother, dad, father, father-in-law, and many other loved ones.

Family will greet friends in Jim’s honor on Saturday, May 16, 2009, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Martin Funeral Home in Cassville, where a luncheon will follow at St. Charles School, Cassville. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Jim M. Puhl memorial fund has been established.

Marian “Mary” E. Puhl

Marian “Mary” E. Puhl entered into eternal life on Monday, July 23, 2012. Her great niece, Jennifer “Jennie” J. Miller held her hands as she peacefully and quietly passed through the gate to rejoin her husband Pete, her family and her beloved dogs Lady, Molly and Abby. In keeping with Mary’s wishes, her age and year of birth will remain a mystery. Here’s a hint, she just celebrated a 90-something birthday. Mary is survived by her sister-in-law, Eleanor Remish, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Phillip and Jessie (Turner) Flesch, sisters: Genevieve Heit Bechtold and Gertrude Harrington and brothers: Phillip, William, James, Kenneth, Raymond and Oscar.

Mary was born on July 8th in Lancaster, Wisconsin. She attended St. Clement’s grade school and graduated from Lancaster High School. She moved to Madison to join her sister Genevieve to work at Rayovac. Her future husband Peter Puhl was in the Air Force stationed at Truax Field. Pete saw Mary when she was having dinner with friends. Pete got Mary’s phone number from Teresa a friend of Mary’s. Mary was concerned since she “didn’t know anything about the guy.” Teresa said Pete was a nice guy, give him a chance, we need to support the troops. Pete was smitten and knew Mary was the one. They married when Pete received his orders to go to Europe. Good fortune smiled on them when World War II ended before Pete was scheduled to report for duty. The happy couple settled in Pete’s hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania. Mary pursued a career in electronics and later in computers as a pioneer in her day working full time in male dominated fields. Mary worked at the Tobyhanna Army Depot and received many awards for her outstanding work and innovations. She loved the challenge of keeping up with rapid changes in technology by attending training. Upon her retirement in 1986, she returned to Madison to be closer to her family.

Mary loved reading the morning newspaper with a good cup of black coffee. She was interested in politics and cast her final vote on June 5th. Mary enjoyed solving daily crossword puzzles and reading. She was a Green Bay Packer and Badger sports fan. Mary watched the Cubs get beat Friday night and declared they must have left their bats at home. Mary enjoyed fishing and playing cards with Pete, family members and friends. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, July 27, 2012 at 11:00 am at Saint Ignatius Catholic Church, 109 South Sixth Street, Mount Horeb. Burial will in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Friends and family may call on Friday from 9:00 am until time of services at the church.

Janice M. Purkapile

Janice M. Purkapile age 87, of Boscobel, passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2012, peacefully at her home. She was born on November 11, 1924, the daughter of Alfred and Irene (Shaw) Klein. Janice was united in marriage to Leonard Purkapile on May 2, 1949. Leonard passed away serving his country faithfully during the Korean War.

Survivors include two daughters: Delores Hall, Lancaster; Joyce (Gene) Storms, Muscoda; very special friend, Ivan Lenzendorf, Boscobel; six grandchildren: Lisa (Charlie) Rauch, Cassville; Leonard Hall, Lancaster; Angela (Mike) Harding, Burnsville, MN; Susan (Jerry) Bearce, Prairie du Chien; Jean Storms; and Richard (Marci) Storms, all of Muscoda; eleven great-grandchildren: Andrew (Amber) Landon, Lancaster; Abbey Rauch, Cassville; Cody, Alex, and Megan Bearce, Prairie du Chien; Mikayla, Logan, and Morgan Harding, Burnsville, MN; Victoria, Izac, and Halie Storms, Muscoda; two great-great grandchildren: Angel and Aubree Landon; three sisters: Margaret Knapp, Mt. Hope; Betty Christopherson, De Forest; Mary (Alan) Ross, Monroe, IA; three brothers: Donald (Ellen) Klein, Sheboygan; Edward (Sherry) Klein, Mt. Hope; Jerry (Diane) Klein, Dodgeville; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents, and her husband, Janice was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Dresen; two brothers, Richard Klein and Dale Klein and a son-in-law, Charles Hall.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster with Reverend Pamela Strakeljahn officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster is serving the family.
